John Thomas Hicks, 82, formerly of 506 Winnsboro Circle, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
A native of Wake County, he was born son of the late James Lawrence and Effie Belle Wall. He was a retired textile employee and member of South Gastonia Church of God. He worked for South Gastonia Church of God and Victory Christian Academy as a Maintenance Manager for 14 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Richard and David Hicks; also four sisters Ellen Marie White, Mary Grace Ivey, Elizabeth Virginia Hicks and Willie Frances.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Ann Holt Hicks, a daughter Teresa Ann Hicks of Gastonia; one granddaughter Beverly Ann Black of Blacksburg, SC; three great grandchildren; three brothers Lawrence Hicks, Jr., of Wake Forest, James Ronald Hicks of Wake Forest, Franklin Hicks of Concord.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 26, at 11:00am a South Gastonia Church of God with Rev, Bobby Gilley and Rev Sam Barnett officiating. Interment will be at Wake Forest Cemetery in Wake Forest, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am Monday at the church.
