Obituary for William Frederick Robertson

William F. “Bill” Robertson of Gastonia, NC went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 3rd, 2018. He was 63-years-old.
He was born in Charlotte on July 21st, 1954, the first son of the late Luther Frederick Robertson and Margaret “Peggy” McArthur Robertson.
He graduated from Ashbrook High School in 1972 and UNC Charlotte in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
Bill was a licensed contractor and worked in water-sewer construction for his father-in-law. He was also a decorated salesman, first in pharmaceutical sales for Wyeth Laboratories and later for various water-sewer pipe vendors, including Pump and Lighting, East Jordan Iron Works and Cemex.
Bill was a wonderful husband, father, son and brother who took great care of those he loved most, and a personal hero to his boy, Sean. He was an avid scuba diver, guitarist, a lifelong golfer and had a great passion for music, movies, literature, photography and his beloved cats and dogs. He was strong-willed, a man who firmly stood for what he believed in, but also incredibly generous, and full of wit and humor. He will forever be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his treasured father-in-law, Vernon O. Haynes.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years and high school sweetheart, Jill Haynes Robertson, his ever-loving and proud son, William Sean Robertson, his treasured younger brothers, Joseph and John Robertson, his mother-in-law, Mary Haynes, sisters-in-law, Charmie and Robin Haynes, his brother-in law, Kim Haynes, and Sean’s fiancé, Tammy Bousman.
At this time, there will be no memorial service; instead, at a later date, the family will conduct a celebration of Bill’s rich life.
